BLOCKED DRAIN

How do you go about unblocking a drain?

When we are called to a blocked drain the first thing we need to do is find an access point to be able to enter our equipment into the drain. We then use a high pressure water jet to try and clear the blockage. If the water jet doesn’t clear the blockage we then use a sewer machine which has a mechanical rotating cutting head. Once the blockage is cleared we then use a CCTV camera and location device to see if the blockage is clear, assess the condition of the pipe and locate the issue above ground.

How long does this process take and how much will it cost?

Unblocking a general blockage will approximately take 90mins from the time we arrive to the time we leave. The cost for 90mins on site is $295+GST, there is no additional charges for equipment usage or travel.

If we require additional time on site this is charged at  ($23.75+GST per 15mins)

What if you can’t unblock the drain?

In some circumstances a drain may not be able to be unblocked. We find this to be more common with storm water drains and heavy tree root intrusion. In this situation we will locate the issue and quote a repair of the pipe. This will likely be a dig up and repair. We can also give you a report so you can get comparison quotes.

CCTV DRAIN SURVEY

 What is a drain survey?

A drain survey is an inspection to see the condition and locate of the sewer or storm water drains. We use a CCTV camera to look inside the pipes and a location device to see where the drains run. At the end of the inspection we will give you a site plan of the drains and a report with our findings.

How do you go about inspecting the drains?

In most cases we drill a 35mm hole in the top of the down pipe adaptor and use a PVC plug once the inspection is complete. We also use grates or inspection openings to access the drainage.
